We're so glad you're here!
Whether you're new to Stocklmeir, new to California, or new to the U.S. school system, we know there are many new things to learn. This page will help you understand how the PTA works and how you can become part of our wonderful school community.
What is a PTA?
The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a nonprofit organization made up of parents, teachers, and school staff working together to support every student at Stocklmeir.
Unlike the school, the PTA is run by parent volunteers. We raise funds, organize events, and provide programs and resources that help make our school an even better place for children to learn and grow.
Whether you volunteer, donate, attend events, or simply participate in school activities, you're already an important part of our community.
Why does the school ask families to donate?
This is one of the most common questions for families who are new to the U.S.
California public schools receive funding to cover essential educational needs such as teachers, classrooms, music instruction, school buildings, and core academics.
Many of the programs that enrich students' school experience are not fully funded through the regular school budget.
The Stocklmeir PTA helps provide things like:
🎨 Art classes
💻 Classroom equipment
🏫 Technology and school improvements
🎭 Educational assemblies
🎉 Family events
❤️ Teacher appreciation
By working together, families help provide opportunities that benefit every student.
Is donating required?
No.
PTA donations are completely voluntary.
We hope every family will contribute in whatever way feels comfortable for them, but there is no requirement to donate.
Every contribution—large or small—helps support our students.
Do I have to volunteer?
No.
Volunteering is always optional.
Some parents help throughout the year.
Others volunteer for one event.
Some families aren't able to volunteer at all.
Every family contributes differently, and every family is welcome.
If you do want to help, there are many opportunities that fit different schedules, skills, and comfort levels.
The PTA works closely with the school but is a separate nonprofit organization run by parent volunteers.

A Room Parent is a parent volunteer who helps connect the teacher, the PTA, and the families in the class. They share important updates, help coordinate volunteers, and support classroom celebrations and special events throughout the school year.
Throughout the year, the PTA and families organize small events and activities to thank our teachers and staff for everything they do.
